Dobbs Ferry Ptsa To Hold 20th Pumpkin Fair

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Halloween is just around the corner and the Dobbs Ferry Parent Teacher Student Association plans to celebrate the same way it has for the past 20 years – with a fall festival filled with games, food and fun. The Pumpkin Fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Springhurst Elementary School.

“The fair is now in its 20th year and is a beloved tradition and community event,” said Rita Kennedy, chair of the event. “It wouldn’t be fall without it around here.”

The event will feature games, arts and crafts, horse-drawn hayrides, live music, face painting, a chili cook-off, a pie-baking contest and, of course, lots of pumpkins. Local eateries including the Cookery Mobile Pizza and The Dawg House will provide food for the event, Kennedy said.

The Dobbs Ferry PTSA is made up of all volunteers who, along with other community members, staff the event, Kennedy said. All proceeds from the event will go toward programming and grants at Dobbs Ferry public schools. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

“Over the years the fair has evolved and there have been some changes, but the main character of the event stays the same,” Kennedy said. “It’s a celebration of fall and the community.”
