DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Orchestras from Dobbs Ferry's elementary, middle school and high school will perform at the Fourth Annual District Orchestra Concert Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the High School/Middle School Auditorium.
Fourth- and fifth-grade orchestras will join the middle and high school groups in an hour-long concert that is open to the public.
“The concert showcases all the wonderfully talented student musicians we have in the orchestra program in Dobbs Ferry,” Fuller said. “A number of these students are also participating in the prestigious Greater Youth Orchestra, and Area All-State and All-County Orchestras.”
This special concert was coordinated by Middle School/High School Orchestra Director Adrianne Fuller and Springhurst Elementary Orchestra Director David Hertzberg.
There are approximately 185 students in the combined orchestra programs in the Dobbs Ferry School District. The Middle School, with 63 participating students, is the largest orchestra of the group.
Each orchestra will perform a minimum of two pieces culminating in a combined fifth-12th grade performance of
"March of the Meistersingers."
The audience will also be treated to a musical selection played by the Middle School Chamber Ensemble, featuring Rebecca Cadenhead, Luka Opacic and Emily Plotkin on violin; Nisha Mathur and Alisha Pandya on viola; and Brandon Kim on cello.
Springhurst Elementary School cellists Oren Tirschwell and Gabriel Sipe will perform two duets. The Sipe Brothers; ninth graders Ethan on violin and Jeremy on piano, along with fourth grader Gabriel, will perform together as a Chamber Music trio.
