School officials decided to change the start of the day from 7:38 a.m. to 8:12 a.m. in response to medical research that shows a 7:30 a.m. school day start time for teenagers can cause potential health risks from sleep deprivation, lohud.com reported.

Dobbs Ferry students will finish their school days at 3:20 p.m. instead of 3:05 p.m., which will be accomplished through reducing each class period by a few minutes, according to lohud.com.
