The event, which took place March 8 at Sleepy Hollow High School, featured more than 450 students from 35 schools in Westchester and Putnam counties.
All students' projects were completed during the course of two years.
“I am very proud of our students for their two years of hard work,” said Melissa Shandroff, Science Research and AP Environmental Science teacher and Science Department chair at Hastings High School.
Faith Shaeffer earned a second-place finish in the Cell Biology category with her research on the effects of anxiety on neurons. Sarah Markley's research on the effects of beaver activity on water quality won her the Stockholm Junior Water Prize.
The American Psychological Association honored Campbell Silverstein for his behavioral science work, and Ava Dishian won a Fisher Scientific Award for her work in the same field.
