HASTINGS, N.Y. -- Hastings High School was a much more glamorous place than usual on Monday evening.
The Hastings High School prom was Monday night and all the students were in the school's courtyard beforehand taking photos. Family and friends filled the courtyard as refreshments were served and students posed for pictures with their friends and dates. The Parent Teacher Student Association and the Youth Council provided free transportation to and from the prom for students on coach buses.
"Obviously one of the reasons we all gather here and we take buses together is to make sure it's a safer environment when we go to the prom," said chaperone Tim O'Brien, who is also a history teacher at the high school.
The prom was held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle for the second consecutive year.
"This way we know that we have gotten them to the prom safely, we've brought them home safely," O'Brien said. "Then it's up to the parents to supervise after that."
Once at the Harbour Club the students experienced their senior prom in a fun and safe environment.
"[They had] the usual stuff, DJ, dancing, food, the whole thing," O'Brien said.
Now that the senior prom has passed, next up for the Hastings High School seniors is graduation. The ceremony will take place Thursday at 6 p.m.
