HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Sunny skies and billowing clouds accompanied the Hastings High School Class of 2014 as hundreds of family, friends and villagers gathered for the school's 106th Commencement Thursday, June 26.

The graduates marched from the high school to nearby Reynolds Field with smiles and donned sunglasses to match the bright day and their futures.

The Hastings High School chorus sang the National Anthem followed by a rendition of Cole Porter's "I'll Be Seeing You" dedicated to the graduates.

High School Principal Louis Adipietro greeted the graduates before introducing Senior Class President Jamie Katz, who spoke for the class.

"Today you stand eager for the future, a future which you dreamed about for so long," Adipietro said. "Today is the day you look around you to thank those whose guidance, support and advice has meant that you can enjoy the triumph your so richly deserve. This is a thrilling moment for all of us to celebrate the diversity and range of wonderful young people ready to take your place in the world."

Katz said she had been thinking about her graduation speech since last June and how the Class of 2014 would be remembered for its ability to work and grown together.

"It's not the specific circumstances that we found ourselves in that made these moments special, it's the people who are standing beside us," Katz said. "In just about two months, we'll be leaving the tight community we've created here, but Class of '14 let me tell you, you've made the last four years memorable."

Richard Berman was the class Valedictorian and the Salutatorian was Miles Lewis.
