Hastings H.S. Principal Plants His Roots

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Louis Adipietro came to Hastings High School as an assistant principal six years ago and has been the principal for the last three.  After a recommendation from Hastings Superintendent Timothy Connors and an approval from the Board of Education, Adipietro will be at his post for many years to come.

“I was looking to sort of plant roots somewhere and let this be my last place,” said Adipietro, who was granted tenure by the district.  “I come to work every day with that in mind and this is just a culmination of that.”

Connors gave an exemplary recommendation for Adipietro to be the newest Hastings faculty member to receive tenure.

“Lou is a people person who starts his day by visiting every teacher and classroom in this school,” Connors said.  “His personal interest in every member of the faculty and staff is what has earned him the trust and willingness to follow his lead.”

With his wife and coworkers surrounding him and celebrating his achievement, Adipietro said it was no easy task getting to where he is today.

“I have worked, in my opinion, very hard to get where I am right now,” he said.  “My mother always used to tell me just work hard and things will work out and tonight is basically what that means.”

While tenure provides a sense of security for Adipietro in his career, he said it means something much more to him.

“It’s not just a guaranteed job to me,” he said.  “I’m going to work every day like I’ve been working the past six and a half and I promise that moving forward and in the future.”

While not a Hastings resident, Adipietro said he has worked to fully integrate himself into not only the school district, but the village itself.

“I have embraced this community, while I live in Yonkers, I just sleep there,” he said.
