HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Monday’s Hastings School Board meeting on the repair of the running track at Reynolds Field has been postponed due to the inclement weather.
Hastings School Superintendent Roy Montesano said the Board of Education will notify the community when the meeting is rescheduled.
The track at Reynolds Field has been closed since mid-January due to dangerous conditions caused by surface deterioration, the district said. The meeting will be open to the public and residents will be allowed to offer comment.
According to the Board of Education, the cost to restore or replace the track would begin at approximately $500,000. The district is considering several options, including a total field renovation with a multi-sports, artificial surface replacing existing natural grass field.
The rubberized track around the football field at Hastings High School has a number of areas that have raised and bubbled and others that have been torn away, creating dangers to runners and walkers who frequent the public park, officials said.
Signs have been installed at each entrance to tell residents that the track is closed until further notice.
