HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Voters passed the $42,708,466 budget in the Hastings schools by a margin of 343-205, according to unofficial results. Residents also re-elected incumbents Eileen Baecher, Donna Laing and Lindsey Hicks to the board of education
The Hastings School District's 2012-2013 budget of $42,708,466 is a $680,072 increase over the 2011-2012 budget of $42,028,394. The budget showed a 1.62 percent increase over the previous year and a 1.83 percent increase in the tax levy.
A proposal in the budget, which called for an increase in the school districts capital reserve by $700,000, was approved by a vote of 632-159. The funding came from the school districts fund balance and will have no impact on the 2012-2013 budget. The district said the money would go toward facility improvements throughout the school buildings.
Baecher was re-elected as president of the board of education with 679 votes and incumbents Laing and Hicks were also re-elected with 653 and 668 votes respectively, district officials said Tuesday night. The three were unopposed for the three open seats on the board of education.
