Hastings School Budget Vote Set for Tuesday

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Voting for the Hastings School District’s 2012-2013 budget will be held on Tuesday, along with an election for the board of education.

The Hastings School District proposed 2012-2013 budget is $42,708,466, which would be a $680,072 increase over the 2011-2012 budget of $42,028,394. The proposed budget shows a 1.62 percent increase over the previous year and a 1.83 percent increase in the tax levy.

A proposal in the budget vote will call for an increase in the capital reserve by $700,000.  The funding for this would come from the school district’s fund balance and would have no impact on the 2012-2013 budget.  The district said this money would go towards facility improvements throughout the school buildings.

Eileen Baecher will be running for reelection as president of the board of education and incumbents Donna Laing and Lindsey Hicks will also be running for reelection.  The three will be unopposed for three open seats on the board of education.
