The announcement, made Tuesday, comes after an extensive search that consisted of numerous interviews and included a committee that was representative of the school community.

“We are proud to welcome Carol to the Irvington school community,” Harrison said. “She brings with her an impressive background and skill set that will certainly prove to be an asset to the district. Her passion for education and incredible mind for business has made her a great match for Irvington.”

Stein comes to Irvington from the White Plains City School District, where she has served as the school business administrator/treasurer for the past five years. In White Plains, Stein led business operations for the district, managing the budget as well as banking, payroll, accounts payable and all other areas of accounting. She oversees the accounting for the district’s current $48 million capital project and works closely with the district’s architect and construction management firm.

Stein has also served as an adjunct professor at Manhattanville College School of Education and was a vice president at Citibank, where she was responsible for all aspects of consumer lending and managed a staff of 200. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She also received a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY New Paltz.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to work in a successful and cohesive district centered on student growth and achievement,” said Stein. “I have met many wonderful and enthusiastic staff members and I look forward to working with the district.”

Stein will work with Beverly Miller, the current assistant superintendent for business and operations, during planned orientations to become better acquainted with her new role.
