Irvington Boys Track, Field Team Crowned League Champions

IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- The Irvington High School Boys Track and Field team were crowned league champions May 10 after they edged out Westlake High School by 3.5 points.

The team was led by Hubert Yang, who won the 200-meter race, the 400- meter race in a state-qualifying time of 50.00, and anchored the winning 4x400- meter relay. 

Griffin Knapp was part of the winning 4x800-meter relay, and won both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, the latter in a state-qualifying time of 56.89. 

The girls varsity track and field team also competed in the league championships, placing second, just 2.5 points behind Briarcliff High School. 

Zoe Maxwell won the triple jump with a jump over 36 feet, along with the 200- and 400- meter races and the 4x100-meter relay. 

“Congratulations to both teams for their great efforts,” Irvington Athletic Director Arthur McCormack said.
