Members of the school’s wind ensemble and choir performed during the annual Bernard Kaplan Memorial Holiday Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Debra Tuzman directed the wind ensemble; Janet Gillespie directed the choir.

They said students have been performing at the concert for several years.

“We are very fortunate that we are continually invited back,” Tuzman said.

Judith Kaplan, who organizes the annual event in honor of her late husband, “hand selects only a few ensembles every year to participate in the two-week series,” Tuzman said.

Invitations to return are based on an ensemble's performance from the year before, she added.

The student musicians worked diligently to prepare for the concert, Tuzman said.

“This is the busiest time in the MetLife Building (located in Grand Central Station), and it often draws a very large crowd,” she said, adding that the students “worked very hard” and did “an amazing job.”
