Irvington Musicians Perform At Lincoln Center

IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- A group of  musicians from Irvington Middle School and Irvington High School performed in the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestras Association Spring Gala concert, held at the David Geffen Hall on May 1.

High school students Nora Burkhardt (violin), Miles Gilbert (bass), Luke Hargraves (bass), Samantha Lapine (percussion), Swati Narayan (viola), Brandon Weinstein (viola) and Ethan Weinstein (trombone) performed with the Westchester Youth Symphony, while middle school students Sohum Gala (violin) and Eesha Thaker (violin) performed with the Westchester Junior Strings Orchestra. 

The Greater Westchester Youth Orchestras Association, which is a nonprofit organization that helps young people develop self-esteem and promotes diversity through classical music training, is comprised of students in grades four to 12 from Westchester County and the surrounding counties in the tri-state area. 

It consists of three orchestras, the Westchester Elementary Strings Orchestra, Westchester Junior Strings Orchestra and the Westchester Youth Symphony.
