Masters School Makes Most Expensive Schools List

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – For many parents, the start of a new school year means budgeting extra money for new supplies and clothes for their children. For some Dobbs Ferry parents, and other parents across the nation, it means shelling out college-level tuition rates at private high schools.

The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry was listed on The 50 Most Expensive Private High Schools In America list, released last week by Business Insider.

The Masters School was ranked 49th with a day student tuition of $35,820 for the 2012-2013 school year, according to Business Insider. The school, which has 603 students, has a $27 million endowment. The school’s proximity to New York City allows for field trips to the city’s many attractions, Business Insider said.

The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey took the top spot with a day student tuition of $43,314, slightly less than the average $43,500 tuition at private colleges, Business Insider said.

The list ranked schools based on the tuition and mandatory fees for day students in grades nine to 12. It excluded boarding-only schools and schools for special needs students.
