DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Mercy College announced the appointment of Joan Toglia as dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences Monday.
Toglia, a resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, served as Interim Dean this past year while a national search was pursued.
“I am excited and honored by this opportunity," Toglia said. "The School of Health & Natural Sciences has a unique array of both science and clinical health profession programs that have received national recognition. I look forward to advancing the School’s vision of becoming a leader and innovator in the education of health care and science professionals.”
Toglia most recently served as the program director of the Graduate Program in Occupational Therapy at Mercy College and has been at Mercy since 1994. She is a Professional Associate in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill - Cornell Medical Center.
Toglia has more than 30 years of experience in NeuroRehabilitation, working in acute, rehabilitation and outpatient settings with persons with stroke, acquired brain injury and other neurological disorders.
In 2013, Toglia was the named a fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association in recognition of her contributions to Cognitive Rehabilitation Theory and Practice.
