The contest, a partnership between Westchester County and Pace, challenges students of all ages to tackle America's changing age demographics by creating Mobile Apps for Aging Populations, also known as 'MAAPS.' Specifically, young developers will work to develop apps that improve an aspect of daily life for people ages 65 and older.

The competition is open to both high school and college students attending schools in the tri-state area. Students must be enrolled in school full time and can register as a team or individually. It is recommended that a team consist of three to five students, but there is no cap on the number of students on a team. Teams will ultimately present their apps to a judging panel in the spring, and are awarded cash prizes, paid internships and tech gear.
