School buses hit the local roads as early as 7 a.m. picking up children in the villages as teachers, principals and administrators waited at the schools for their charges to arrive.
Dobbs Ferry crossing guard Jack Montessino was posted in downtown assisting parents and children to their bus stops. "It's always a good day when school starts," Montessino said. "There's more traffic, so we're very careful and watch all the kids."
