Photos: Rivertowns Public Schools Open for 2013-2014 Year

RIVERTOWNS, N.Y. - Public schools in Hastings-on-Hudson, Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry opened for the 2013-2014 Tuesday - back in session for two days before closing again for the Rosh Hashanah holidays Thursday and Friday.

Opening day at Hastings High School was hosted by the senior class as they welcomed students and faculty.

School buses hit the local roads as early as 7 a.m. picking up children in the villages as teachers, principals and administrators waited at the schools for their charges to arrive.

Dobbs Ferry crossing guard Jack Montessino was posted in downtown assisting parents and children to their bus stops. "It's always a good day when school starts," Montessino said. "There's more traffic, so we're very careful and watch all the kids."
