DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Musical theatre writing team Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman have teamed with Springhurst Elementary School’s music teacher George Swietlicki to write this year’s fourth-grade musical, "All the Same," to be presented Thursday at 7 p.m.
The show, which features five original songs, tells the story of a young boy who manages to put an end to bullying in his school in a rather unexpected way. Holzman, a Dobbs Ferry resident, first collaborated with Swietlicki several years ago, when his older son was in fourth grade. That first show, "The Hudson River", tells the history of the river in song, has been performed several times since then. Last year, Holzman brought Needleman, his co-lyricist-librettist into the Springhurst musical family. The two have written several shows which have been performed off-Broadway and regionally, including "Wallenberg", a musical drama about the World War II hero, which had its world premiere at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in 2010. Holzman and Needleman also collaborated with Swietlicki on "We All Are America", a musical about immigration, which was performed with guest narrator Meredith Vieira earlier in the school year.. A promotional video was produced by Dobbs Ferry parent Ed Nammour.
