U.S. News & World Report's rankings emphasize student outcomes, using information on graduation rates and state assessments for more than 20,500 schools nationally.

Here is the list of local top schools in the order of their rankings:

  • Edgemont Junior-Senior High School ranked 14th in New York state and 87th nationwide.
  • Bronxville High School ranked 15th statewide and 90th nationwide.
  • Rye High School: ranked 20th statewide and 114th nationwide.
  • Blind Brook High School ranked 22nd statewide and 159th nationwide.
  • Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua ranked 25th statewide and 177th nationwide.
  • Dobbs Ferry High School ranked 28th statewide and 182nd nationwide.
  • Harrison High School ranked 30th stateside and 197th nationwide.
  • Byram Hills High School in Armonk ranked 32nd statewide and 201st nationwide.
  • Pleasantville High School ranked 34th statewide and 228th nationwide,.
  • Briarcliff High School ranked 36th statewide and 248th nationwide.
  • North Salem Middle School/High School ranked 41st statewide and 283rd nationwide.
  • John Jay High School in Cross River ranked 43rd statewide and 298th nationwide. 
  • Croton-Harmon High School ranked 44th statewide and 301st nationwide. 
  • Fox Lane High School in Bedford ranked 50th statewide and 365th nationwide.
  • Mamaroneck High School ranked 52nd statewide and 385th nationwide.
  • Ardsley High School ranked 61st statewide and 544th nationwide.
  • Yorktown High School ranked 76th statewide and 725th nationwide.
  • Lakeland High School ranked 77th statewide and 735th nationwide. 
  • Hendrick Hudson High School in Cortlandt ranked 84th statewide and 839th nationwide.
  • Eastchester Senior High School ranked 87th statewide and 885th nationwide.
  • Sleepy Hollow High School ranked 88th statewide and 890th nationwide.
  • Somers Senior High School ranked 93rd statewide and 908th nationwide .
  • Scarsdale Senior High School ranked 100th statewide and 994th nationwide.
  • Walter Panas High School ranked 106th statewide and 1,049th nationwide. 
  • Port Chester Senior High School ranked 134th statewide and 1,481st nationwide.

Two schools not ranked nationally, but making New York state's top ranking were: 

  • Yonkers High School, which ranked 245th statewide
  • Saunders Trades and Technical High School, which U.S. News ranked 246th statewide.
