John Ceballos, Kate Gouran, and Grant Hevia scored in the top 2.5 percent among Hispanic and Latino students who took the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in the region.

The test, administered by the College Board, and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., is taken by approximately 3.5 million students each year in the United States.

Ceballos, Gouran, and Hevia can now highlight their inclusion in NHRP when they apply to colleges and universities, school officials said.

A survey of the class of 2015 students indicated that 91 percent of NHRP recipients agreed that inclusion in the recognition program made them more competitive candidates when applying to college, school officials said.
