Two Main Street School Destination Imagination Teams Make State Tourney

IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Two Destination Imagination teams from Irvington's Main Street School, the Fantastic Fiolians and the Imaginators, will compete in the 2016 New York Destination Imagination Affiliate Tournament, which will be held in Binghamton on April 9.

The teams advanced to the state finals after receiving top honors at the regional tournament, held on March 5 at Mercy College. The Fantastic Fiolians took first place in the Get a Clue category, and the Imaginators placed second in the Meme category.

The Fantastic Fiolians, comprised of fifth-graders Morgan Balkin, Andrew Buchsbaum, Jordyn Eckers, Anya Murphy, Michael Sollecito and Meika Tomita, under the guidance of team managers Cristina Fiol and Osa Murphy, created a mystery story that was set in Egypt in 1323 B.C. and featured three suspect characters.

The Imaginators, comprised of fourth-graders Tiernan Cain, Katelyn Jee, Conor Kenny, Riley Khan, Kate McLaughlin and Florence Santander-Lopez, under the direction of team manager Margaret Flynn Kahn, raised $620 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which supports children with cancer.
