Ardsley Grad Longo Wrestles Back To Third Place

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – It was not the start Derrick Longo wanted as he was shocked in the first round at the Petrofes Wrestling Invitational at Messiah College Saturday.

Springfield's Derrick Longo, an Ardsley graduate, lost his first match then won five consecutive matches to finish third in the Petrofes Invitational at Messiah College.

The Springfield College senior and Ardsley graduate rebounded from the loss in a dominant way, winning five consecutive matches to finish third in the 165-pound weight class.

Longo registered two wins by technical falls and two first-period pins – at 1:33 and 52 seconds. He concluded his run to third place with an 18-8 major decision over Nathan White of Wilkes.
