Ardsley Plays White Plains in Baseball Semifinal

It will be a busy next few days in the Little League baseball and softball district tournaments, highlighted by the Section 4 Big League Baseball Championship, hosted by Briarcliff. The Section 4 championships begin Friday, with Harrison, representing District 20, playing the District 18 (Rockland County) champion, 5:30 p.m. at Briarcliff High School. It will run through Monday, July 4. The final is scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday. If a second game is needed, it will be played at 3 p.m.

The five-team tournament also includes District 17 (Poughkeepsie), District 19 (Orange and Sullivan Counties) and the host, District 33 (Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties). District 17 will play District 19, Saturday, 9 a.m.m followed by Briarcliff playing noon against the winner of the Harrison-District 18 game. The District 20 baseball majors will hold its winners’ bracket semifinals Friday. Ardsley will play White Plains, 5:45 p.m., at Volunteer Field in Hawthorne and Eastchester faces Sherman Park, 5:45 p.m., at Gedney Field in White Plains. The victors meet in the winners’ bracket final, Friday, July 8, 5:45 p.m., at Harrison’s Brentwood Park. The two losing teams go to the losers’ bracket and will play Tuesday. In District 33, two majors’ baseball games will be held in the losers’ bracket at Croton and at Peekskill.
