BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — Tim Soave bowled over defenders for 170 yards and two scores in the first half to lead Dobbs Ferry to a 37-17 victory over host Bronxville on Homecoming Day, as the two teams struggled for playoff positions.

The defending Class C state champion Eagles finished the regular season at 5-2, and Bronxville, the 2011 state champion, completed a 4-3 regular season. Both teams qualified for next Saturday’s playoff semifinals. Woodlands (7-0), the top seed, and Rye Neck (6-0) round out the Class C playoff bracket.

Hundreds of Bronxville fans filled the high school campus for field hockey and girls’ soccer games prior to the 6 p.m. football game. The Bronxville football players honored their parents in pregame ceremonies.

Dobbs Ferry rushed out to a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter, as Soave bulled through the Bronxville offense. The Broncos were coming off a 7-0 victory over Tuckahoe, while Dobbs Ferry was beaten by Woodlands 39-6 last week and needed a win to qualify for the playoffs.

Halfback Chris Addorisio scored three times for Dobbs Ferry, and Anthony Cialini also ran one in for the Eagles.

Luke Marrone scored a touchdown and Andrew Jones recovered a fumble in the end zone for the second Bronxville score.
