DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. The Dobbs Ferry boys basketball team left no doubt that it belonged in the Section 1 Class B Final Four Wednesday, rushing to a 15-point lead in the first eight minutes and flying to a 67-23 victory over visiting Valhalla in a tournament quarterfinal game at Dobbs Ferry High School.
We are happy to be going to the County Center and we are playing very well at this point of the season, Dobbs Ferry coach Scott Patrillo said of the Eagles. We played with good intensity throughout the game. Everyone played well. I thought we worked well on both ends of the floor.
The top-seeded Eagles (18-1) will play No. 5 Blind Brook, a winner over No. 4 Pleasantville, in the semifinals at the Westchester County Center next week. Valhalla, the No. 8 seed, was eliminated from the tournament.
Eric Paschall, Spencer Avalos and Thomas Fleming each scored a team-high 11 points for Dobbs Ferry in a balanced attack. Nick Kost had 10 points and Eddie Ritch added eight for the Eagles.
The Eagles led 34-12 at halftime but played through the lopsided game with good pace and finished with a strong third quarter before using the bench through the fourth quarter.
Terrance Kibble scored 12 points and Brian Kinnally added nine for Valhalla.
