YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - Dobbs Ferry was looking forward to playing Yorktown in an opening-round game of the 15th annual George Budries Basketball Tournament, Tuesday.

Eric Paschall and his teammates were on the wrong end of the score in the 2010 championship game. It was a game which still was fresh in the collective Eagles’ minds.
“It was a lopsided score last year because we felt they played harder than us,”

“We wanted to take it to them, not let up and play harder than them,” Paschall said.
Dobbs Ferry accomplished this in the first quarter, holding Yorktown scoreless and went on to an easy 58-26 win.

The undefeated Eagles (6-0) will face Horace Greeley, which beat Somers, 58-46, in the final, 5 p.m. Yorktown and Somers meet in the consolation game, 1 p.m.

Paschall led all scorers with 18 points and Thomas Fleming added 16 points, including a 30-foot swished 3-pointer at the third-quarter buzzer.

Paschal got the Eagles going, scoring 11 of the team’s 15 points in the first quarter. While Paschall was scoring, Dobbs Ferry’s stifling, in-your-face, man-to-man defense was giving Yorktown fits. Yorktown finally scored its’ first points 47 seconds into the second quarter on a Ryan Duff one-hander in the lane.

“We played hard and caused a lot of turnovers,” Paschall said. “It was a great a feeling to know that we shut them out in the first quarter. Coach said he was happy with us and that it was the best defense we played all year.”

Even though Dobbs Ferry held a commanding 15-point lead, the Eagles dialed up the defensive intensity and went into halftime with a 29-8 lead.
