DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. The New York State sportswriters Association recognized the team success of the state champion Dobbs Ferry Eagles once again Wednesday by naming three Eagles players to its Class C All-State football first team.
John Yozzo-Scaperrotta, Darien Bica and Eddie Ritch, all seniors, were leaders of the team that ran to a nearly-perfect 11-1 season and won the Section 1, State Regional and New York State Class C titles, avenging their only loss by beating defending champion Bronxville in the Section 1 title game.
Scaperrotta was a standout running back and linebacker while Bica, a repeat All-State selection, was a star linebacker. Ritch was the Eagles lead running back and game-breaker through the playoffs, leading the way in the Section 1 and regional title game victories.
Along with the three first teamers, fullback Tim Soave and quarterback Spencer Avalos were named the second team.
