Dobbs Ferry Girls' Basketball Passes Hastings

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Locked in a tight battle early in the first half, the Dobbs Ferry girls basketball team shook the host Yellow Jackets loose with a 21-10 burst in the second and third quarters Wednesday and went on to a 56-40 victory.

“We played good defense and that leads to better offense,” Eagles sophomore Christine Whitty said following the game. “We have to improve our chemistry to get better. We don’t have one or two star players, so we’ll have to contribute.”

The Eagles, who were led by Midori Kahari’s 13 points, evened their record at 4-4 while Hastings fell to 3-5 so far this season.

Lea Distelhurst had a game-high 15 points for the Yellow Jackets (3-4), Alex LeFevre added 10 points and Kelsey Barry scored six.

Hastings led 12-11 on a three-pointer by Distelhurst late in the first quarter, but the Eagles responded quickly as Christy Sato answered with a basket to make the score 13-12 Dobbs Ferry after one quarter. The Eagles extended the lead to 23-18 at halftime and ran away in the third quarter.
