Dobbs Ferry Girls Edged in Mayclim Tourney

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Dobbs Ferry girls’ basketball team mounted a fourth-quarter comeback that fell just short Thursday in a 61-58 loss to Putnam Valley in the opening round of Croton High School’s Mayclim Basketball Tournament.

Down 49-35 after three quarters, the Eagles (3-2) outscored Putnam Valley 23-12 in the final quarter to close the gap to three points before losing.

Jeana Corridina led all Eagles scorers with 16 points, Alyssa Chipelo scored 10 and Kristy Degner and Midori Kihara each contributed nine points.

Carey Berry scored a game-high 22 points and Erin McCrudden added 18 for the winners.

The Eagles will play the winner of the Haldane-Croton opening round game in the Mayclim Tournament consolation game Saturday.  Putnam Valley advanced the championship final against the winner of the other opening-round game.
