Dobbs Ferry, Tuckahoe In Class Football Clash

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Tuckahoe and Dobbs Ferry, two unbeaten small-school football powers, will clash Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Tuckahoe for bragging rights in Section 1's Class C and D.

Dobbs Ferry has more than Class C pride on the line. The Eagles have won 14 straight games since falling to Bronxville last year on opening day. Dobbs Ferry has breezed through victories over Haldane (19-8), Burke Catholic (42-30) and Pawling (27-0).

The hometown Tigers (3-0), the Class D state champion in 2006 and 2010, will test current Class C state champion Dobbs Ferry, also unbeaten in its first three games of the 2012 season. Tuckahoe is also still hurting from last year's meeting at Dobbs Ferry, when the Eagles blanked the Tigers, 40-0.

The Eagles depend on running back Tim Soave, who already has compiled more than 800 yards and scored eight touchdowns in three games. Brian Gardner is a leader on defense and out of the backfield on offense and Grant Giglio is the quarterback.

Tuckahoe has outscored Pawling, Rye Country Day School and Hastings 78-7 in three easy wins to set up Saturday's game. Fullback/linebacker Nick Reisman, halfback Shyheim Nixon, quarterback Mike Castrucco and wideout/defensive lineman Kayvon Reid lead the Tigers offense and defense.

This will be a test of Dobbs Ferry's inside strength on both sides of the line against Tuckahoe's speed and skill and will be one of the highlight games of the season in both classes.
