The Empire State Huskies 16U softball team won the Memorial Day Classic and Summer Icebreaker on consecutive weeks, qualifying for the national tournament.
The tournament will be held in Salisbury, Md. or Orlando, Fl.
The Huskies went 5-1 in each tournament, outscoring its opponents, 105-34, in the 12 games. The Huskies is comprised of girls from Westchester County as well as Putnam and Dutchess counties.
Megan Jahoda, Julie Gaspar and Cassidy Boyle of Hendrick Hudson, Alex Cialini from Dobbs Ferry, Yorktowns Dominique Bisaccia and Leanne Farmer, and Theresa Swertfager of John Jay Middle School in Cross River are some of the Huskies players who helped the team advance.
