DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Colleen Sheridan, a Dobbs Ferry resident and senior rower at the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, signed her National Letter of Intent Thursday to attend Fairfield University in the fall.
Sheridan began her rowing career as a high school freshman and has rowed through the fall, winter and spring since. She is a New York State Scholastic Rowing Scholar Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.
The soon-to-been Fairfield student rows for the Pelham Community Rowing Association.
"I was recruited by several other schools such as Villanova and Saint Joseph’s in Philadelphia. "I chose Fairfield because I really connected with the coaches and team and felt it had a really good balance of athletics and academics."
Sheridan also had a close connection at the Connecticut college.
"My sister is currently a Junior at Fairfield, so I know the school very well," Sheridan said. "I plan to study accounting and am very excited to be both attending Fairfield, as well as being able to row for them."
