DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Junior running back and defensive lineman Tim Soave, who led the Dobbs Ferry Eagles football team in rushing and scoring and into the Section 1 Class C playoffs, has been named the Rivertowns Daily Voice Athlete of the Month for November.
Soave was one of only three returning starters remaining from the Eagles 2011 Class C state championship team that went 6-3 and made it to the Section 1 semifinal round before losing to Rye Neck. The 6-4, 250-pound three-year starter also led the Eagles' defense from his position on the defensive line.
"The season was rough this year," Soave said. "It felt terrible losing (in the playoffs) so we already started working out and have a lot of kids coming back that are pretty experienced. We definitely do not want to lose at all next year, especially since it is my last year and my only one as a captain."
Despite the postseason loss, Soave earned an individual honor when he was selected in November for the Elite National Football Showcase along with 500 of the top athletes nationwide. He will participate in the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio, Texas, beginning Jan. 4.
