Hastings Boys Top Irvington, Press for Playoffs

HASTINGS-ON-UDSON, N.Y. – Hastings boys basketball coach Ezra Elliott’s first year as head coach has been and an up-and-down ride, but Tuesday’s victory over Irvington has the Yellow Jackets poised for a run at postseason berth in the Section 1 Class B playoffs.

“We still have a chance to go .500 (record) or better on the year over out next three games,” Elliott said.

The Yellow Jackets, who used a 13-6 fourth-quarter run to erase a four-point deficit in the comeback victory, have a 7-8 record and look to continue winning over their final three regular-season games.

Joe Tino led a balanced attack with nine points as seven Hastings players scored at least four points.

Andrew Brennan led the Bulldogs with 10 points and Kevin Tierney added nine.
