Hastings Drops Game 48-37 to Putnam Valley

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Putnam Valley boys’ basketball team overcame an early 10-point deficit Saturday and went on to a 48-37 victory over Hastings the consolation game of the 31st William Mayclim Basketball Tournament at Croton High School.

The Yellow Jackets lowered their record to 3-5 and Putnam Valley upped its record to 4-3.

Hastings forward Joe Tino scored a team-best 11 points and had eight rebounds, and teammate Dillon Healy, who was named to the All-Tournament team, added nine points and six rebounds.

Putnam Valley’s Zach Coleman had a game-high 19 points, including 12 in the second-half comeback.

Healy’s long-ranger jumper gave Hastings a 13-11 lead after one quarter, and Tino, who had nine points by halftime, landed two 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Jackets opened a 26-20 lead at the half.

Putnam Valley opened the second half with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 28-28 then extended the lead to 38-30 early in the third.

Hastings will host neighboring rival Dobbs Ferry, the winner of the Mayclim tournament, Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.
