Hastings Football Braces For Bronxville Visit

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. ? Sam Osband's first quarter field goal was the difference in Hastings' 10-7 victory over Valhalla last week, but the Yellow Jackets will need more offense when they host Bronxville Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets (1-0) will have a double problem with the visiting Broncos, who lost a tough 40-32 decision to upstart Woodlands last Saturday and are in need of a win to get their season going.

Bronxville's offense will be difficult for the Yellow Jackets to handle, and they must play tight defense and control the clock on offense to stay in the game.

But Hastings' Chris Minozzi, who anchors both the offensive and defensive lines, believes his team can improve its play.

"The opening game I think was a really good game for us," Minozzi said. "We had 11 penalties for 80 yards, and we made a lot of coachable mistakes, but we were able to start the season 1-0. Now we watch tape, have a great week of practice and get ready for Bronxville."

Hastings quarterback Rob Hevia will face a much more formidable defense than he did last week. Hevia scored the Yellow Jackets' lone touchdown in the fourth quarter last week.

"Against Bronxville, I think the winner will be decided by what goes on at the line of scrimmage," Minozzi said. "If we control it, I have extreme confidence we will come out 2-0 after Saturday."

Bronxville is led by quarterback Michael Dresdale, who completed 6 of 13 passes for 87 yards and two scores last week. Warren Kraemer led the Broncos in rushing yards with 129 yards and three touchdowns, and Patrick Bisconti added 54 yards rushing yards.
