Hastings Girls' Basketball Flips Bronxville

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Lucy Mondello scored a team-high 11 points and Kelsey Barry controlled the backboards with 14 rebounds for the Hastings girls’ basketball team Wednesday in a 37-29 victory over visiting Bronxville.

“I think we’re improving,” Hastings freshman guard said. “Varsity is much different than JV. There’s more going on in the game and surrounding you. I like running the fast break and we did that to help us win.”

Hastings upped its record to 3-3 and Bronxville fell to 1-1.

Danielle Kelly scored 12 points and Grace Devlin added 10 for the Broncos girls, who were as close as 29-25 after three quarter before Hastings pulled away late in the game. Amy Pepe scored four points for Bronxville.

The Broncos took an early 11-10 lead but the Yellow Jackets closed the score midway through the second quarter and led 18-15 at halftime of the low-scoring game.

Alex LeFevre had seven points and Barry and Kristina Felenczak each added six for Hastings.
