Hastings Rec Swings Into Seniors Fitness for Fall

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Hastings-on-Hudson Parks and Recreation Department will offer a full slate of fitness programs, including line dancing, yoga, Ta’i Chi Ch’aun and land aerobics for its residents 50 years and older beginning the week of Sept. 12.

Yoga classes include an hour of chair yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and a mat yoga class offered on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Both classes will be taught by Donna Beauchamp and held at the James Harmon Community Center at 44 Main Street.

Line dancing will be taught by Richard Barnett each Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the James Harmon Community Center.

Ta’i Chi Ch’aun, one of the ancient Chinese martial arts, is also offered at the James Harmon Community Center for Hastings-on-Hudson residents each Friday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., taught by Ed Young, a Hastings-on-Hudson resident.

For those who are looking for an energetic workout, Land Aerobics begins on Sept. 22 at the James Harmon Community Center each Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon and is taught by Gina Miller, a personal trainer with offices located in Hastings-on-Hudson.

All classes have a membership fee of $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents. This fee entitles you to attend all the fitness programs the department offers. For more information, contact Anne Russak at 914-478-2380 ext. 644 or senioroutreach@hastingsgov.org.
