HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Hastings-on-Hudson Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its basketball league that will begin in early November.
The Hastings-on-Hudson Recreation Basketball League opens practice the week of Nov. 12 and games begin in mid-December. Volunteers lead each of the practices, which will be held twice a week from Nov. 14 through mid-December. After that, players will take part in one weeknight practice and one Saturday game until March.
The league is split into boys and girls leagues with three age divisions in each league: third and fourth grades, fifth and sixth grades and seventh and eighth grades.
The games and practices are held at Hillside Elementary School or Hastings High School, depending on the team.
Mandatory evaluations will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Cochran Gym in Hastings High School. A spot in the league cannot be guaranteed if a child misses these evaluations.
Third and fourth graders will be evaluated between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Fifth and sixth graders will be evaluated between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Seventh and eighth graders will be evaluated between 11 a.m. and noon.
Registration can be done in person at the James Harmon Community Center at 44 Main St. or online at the Hastings recreation website. The fee is $100 per child with a 10 percent second child discount. All checks and money orders must be made payable to the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson. The league does not accept cash and does not give refunds.
