Hastings Summer Sports Camps Still Have Openings

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Hastings Recreation Department is accepting registration for two of its summer programs that still have openings.

The Summer Basketball Camp the week of July 23 and the 2012 Sandlot Dreams Baseball/Softball Camp in July and August both have open spots.

Hastings High School boys basketball coach Ezra Elliott will lead the basketball camp for boys and girls entering fifth through ninth grades. The staff will run drills to develop fundamentals, deliver lectures on the game and organize officiated games.

The camp will run from July 23 to 27 from 12:15 to 2:45 p.m. each day at Cochran Gym and Reynolds Court at Hastings High School. Contact Lisa O’Reilly at 914-478-2380, ext. 642, email LOReilly@hastingsgov.com.

The cost is $160 for the week or $40 for a day. Checks must be payable to the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson at 44 Main St., Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.

The Sandlot Dreams Camp will feature four sessions, the first three for baseball, the fourth for softball.

Session I, for ages 6 to 9, will take place June 25-28. Session II, also for ages 6 to 9, will run July 2-6 (no session July 4). Session III is scheduled for ages 10 to 12, July 9-12. The softball session runs Aug. 20-23 for ages 9 to 12.

All sessions run from 1 to 4 p.m.

Cost per session is $200, but those who register before July 1 will be charged $180. There will be no refunds if participants miss days, but sessions canceled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled.
