Hastings Visits Bronxville for Class C Test

HASTINGS, N.Y. – Hastings’ long road trip to Pawling last Saturday was rewarded with a 22-14 season-opening victory and valuable game experience going into this week’s test on the road against Class C state champion Bronxville set for 1:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets (1-0) lost twice to Bronxville last year -- once in the regular season and again in the Class C playoffs – and lost several key players to graduation, including quarterback and thee-year starter Luca Cabucci, who led the Jackets with 759 passing and another 520 rushing and a 6-3 record.

The Jackets are led by captains quarterback Joe Tarricone and halfback Brandon Abrahante, who combined for 108 rushing yards and two scores against Pawling.

Tarricone completed five of 12 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown strike to Matt Adipietro. Bronxville lost the “giant four” starting two-way linemen who were the anchor over a two-year 23-1 record, along with starting quarterback Dillon Mitchell and wide-out Jack Near.

The Broncos did retain their starting backfield of Christian and Jackson Conway and a younger group of linemen who have size if not experience.

The Hastings defense is always well coached and quick to the ball, but a lack of size may hurt against the Conways' grueling ground game and a bigger front line. Bronxville should be able to move the ball better than they did last week and Hastings’ inexperienced lineup got a big boost with its opening-day win.
