IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Three teams from Irvington High School were among the top scholar-athlete teams in the entire state of New York this fall, based on grade-point average.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association's fall 2015 state champion scholar-athlete teams include the following from IHS squads: boys cross country, 99.71 GPA; boys soccer, 96.67 GPA; and field hockey, 97.42 GPA.

Teams earned the title “State Champion” by having their varsity team members earn the highest grade point average in their sport. Scholar-Athlete State Champions will be presented a banner for their school as well as a team certificate and pins for each team member.

Any team earning a grade-point average of 90.00 and higher was honored as a “Scholar-Athlete Team” by NYSPHSAA, with each team receiving a certificate and each team member a pin.

This is the 24th year of the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete program, which is sponsored by Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc.
