Irvington Recreation Softball League Hits Playoffs

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – The Irvington Recreation Department’s Over 40 Softball League and Co-Ed League, which include teams from Dobbs Ferry, completed their regular seasons last week and will open league postseason playoffs on Sept. 9.

Lower Main earned the top seed with an outstanding 20-5 record followed by No. 2 seed T&L with a record of 20-8. BCD grabbed the third seed with a record of 12-8 and the Warriors copped the fourth seed at 14-10. Sons went 9-12 for the fifth seed, Eagles was 7-13 (6th seed), 40 Something finished at 7-15 (7th seed) and Hitmen were 4-22 to take No. 8.

The Over 40 best-of-three quarterfinals will be played at the waterfront park field with three games beginning at 6:30 p.m. on September 9 with winners advancing to a full slate of playoff games on Sept. 11 beginning after the village’s 9/11 memorial ceremonies.

The playoffs will continue with semifinal-round games on Sept. 16 and 18 with the finals slated for Sept 23 and 25 at Scenic Hudson.

In the Co-Ed League, where the top two teams in each division earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs, Celtic Corner/Mina’s took the top seed in the North Division with a 13-1 record, followed by Veni Vidi Vici (10-4), Bridge Street (8-6), Doubleday’s (6-8), Bulldogs (6-8) and Eileen Fisher at 5-9. In the South Division, County Center was tops at 13-3, with Wilbur Force (9-7), Jennifer’s Kitchen (9-7), Signal (7-9), Irvington Eagles (4-12) and Traub Lieberman at 0-16.
