Mercy Baseball Splits Two With Greig Shutout

Mercy College freshman Bryan Greig continued his fine season with a complete-game five-hitter as the Mavericks defeated host C.W. Post 2-0 in the first game of a college baseball doubleheader Sunday.

The right-hander, a Clarkstown North (Rockland County) graduate, struck out eight to register his first shutout and improving to 2-0 on the season.

Mike Gianzero had two of Mercy’s four hits in game one.

Mercy dropped the second game, 5-4, despite a two-run double by Vinny Orlando in a four-run sixth inning. Jesus Jaile of Hartsdale had two hits and scored a run. Starter Tyler Savin allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings.
