Pace University Football Team Opens Preseason Camp

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pace University football team opened up its 2014 preseason camp with a high amount of optimism heading into the season.

First-year head coach Andrew Rondeau brought in a new approach for the program and has a positive outlook on the season. "We are excited to be on the field today for our first practice of the season," said Rondeau. "The energy today was good but we still have a lot of room to grow before the season starts." Key returners for this season are the following players:

Blair Wynn, a senior who played in three games before a season-ending injury in 2013. Luiz Ribeiro, a junior who had 22 receptions, 210 receiving yards and one touchdown in 2013.  Delaney Wallace, sophomore who led the team in rushing with 457 yards on 167 carries, with six rushing touchdowns, caught 21 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown in 2013. Tyler Owens, a junior who had 72 tackles, led the team in sack with 4.5 tackles for loss with 10, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles in 2013. Joe Roman, a senior who had 78 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles, blocked an extra point against Saint Anselm in 2013. Ken Reilly, a sophomore defensive lineman.  Newcomers on the rise are Justin Mills and Jhalen Bien-Aime.  The Setters open the season with three home games as they host non-conference Alderson Broaddus on Sept. 6, followed by Merrimack on Sept/ 13 and Southern Connecticut State on Sept. 20.
