Section 1 High School Basketball Playoffs In Full Swing

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Section 1 high school basketball postseason tournament began last week with opening-round playoff games and continues Tuesday with boys and girls quarterfinal games.

Section 1 includes high school teams from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties with winners advancing to the New York State Public Schools Athletic Association regional playoffs. Quarterfinal winners advance to next week's semifinals at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Tuesday's schedule includes Section 1 and Class B defending state champion Irvington girls hosting No 9 Hastings and defending Class C champion Hamilton (No. 5) at No. 4 Solomon Schechter among the featured games as higher seeds host.

In boys games, top-seeded Irvington hosts No. 9 Briarcliff in a Class B quarterfinal game Tuesday evening and No. 5 Tuckahoe visits No. 4 Children's Village in a Class C quarterfinal.
