ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Springfield College senior Derrick Longo had two goals in mind going into Saturday's Scott Viera Wrestling Invitational – wrestle tough from the offensive position and win the tournament.

Longo, an Ardsley graduate, achieved both, winning the 165-pound title at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.

The No. 1 seed finished with two pins, a technical fall and capped his day with a 6-3 decision against second-seeded Collin Crowell of Roger Williams University.’

“I felt I wrestled a lot tougher on top, which is something I’ve been working on because riding time is important in college,” said Longo, a criminal justice major.

Longo said it also was a great day for the family as younger brother, Drew, a senior at Ardsley, won an Ardsley Tournament title.
