ARDSLEY, N.Y. - Athletes in the Rivertowns, Westchester County and the New York metropolitan area began training and competing in several sports when the House of Sports , a state-of-the-art facility, opened in September of 2012.

The 120,000-square-foot indoor facility at 1 Elm St. is one of the largest of its kind in the Northeast. It contains four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, a baseball/softball center, speed/agility center, restaurant, party room and adult fitness studio.

Dobbs Ferry High School junior Tim Soave , a fullback and defensive lineman who was part of the Eagles' 2011 state championship team, was selected for the Elite National Football Showcase in November following the fall season.

Soave, who rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, will be one of 500 athletes nationwide who will participate in the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio, Texas, beginning Jan. 4.

Ardsley's High School wrestler Drew Longo , a three-time Section 1 Division II champion made a verbal commitment to attend Lehigh University in the fall of 2013. Longo, who placed second and fifth in the New York State Wrestling Championships in 2010 and ’11, respectively, also considered Bucknell and the University of Maryland.

Dobbs Ferry senior track athlete Brendan Wortner won the Section 1 Class C 3,000-meter title in May. Wortner also was the Class C champion in his fall cross country season and winter indoor track seasons as a senior before moving on to SUNY-Geneseo, where he is a freshman runner this year.

The Hastings Recreation Department women's tennis team , led by captain Susan Richman,  won the 2012 Westchester County B League championship in June.
