Great letter! Can't believe it has been ignored.
Not sure the facts are true but if they are, shame on us for letting it get out of control like this.
The school taxes in North Salem are pushing people out. Retired folks cannot afford to live here any longer.
I believe our children deserve the best education possible, but just throwing more money at an already staggering budget is not the answer. Especially when it is done deceptively as it appears to have been done here. If indeed we are paying more per child in North Salem (which means probably in the top 10 nationwide) shouldn't we be one of the top schools in NYS, if not the country? I would like to see where we rank scholastically. In a recent publication of Westchester Magazine where they rated all Westchester Schools, North Salem did not provide data. I found that strange as I thought it would be great free publicity.

Finally something is getting done! Thank you Town Board. But the blame is equally shared. The hamlet of Purdys is inundated with speeders, most of whom are NY'ers and seem to think a STOP sign really means "slow" as they blow right through them. The same people, I am sure, that worry about global warming and going green will mow you down on their way to work.

Because people disagree with you, Mickey Riverss, you label them "insensitive louts". Very telling.
My opinion is we need to be careful of who we honor. What we applaud we encourage.
I am unaware of the outstanding accomplishments Mr. Henry made in his short life to warrant this wonderful gesture. View Comment
I find this outrageous. I have no children in school so no ax to grind. These folks are paying school taxes and being NS residents they are paying through the nose. There are other ways around this. Outsourcing, consolidation with other districts, headcounts, (who is paying now for transportation of NS sports teams to travel to away meets and games)? Perhaps we need to look at the number of sport teams we currently have. Between equipment cost, salaries, insurance I am sure it is costly and we should be able to live with less. Hopefully you have looked into all of these and more. You are a resourceful group and you know we have the money to get these kids to school especially considering NS is taking their tax dollars and not responsible for the education of their children.
The school voucher program looks more and more attractive to me every day for a multitude of reasons...this new one now added! View Comment
